We established peace, did not buy it, says Manoj Sinha

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated that a zero-tolerance policy has eliminated over 780 terrorists since 2020.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Saturday that the government established peace in the region through a zero-tolerance policy toward violence. Speaking at a function for the 8th J&K Union Territory Foundation Day and the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Sinha said the administration did not buy peace.

According to The Hindu, Sinha stated that more than 780 terrorists have been eliminated since 2020. He said the policy crippled terror networks, ended local recruitment, and erased stone-pelting. He added that the abrogation of Article 370 gave ordinary citizens freedom from fear and access to rights that were denied for decades.

The Lieutenant Governor also highlighted actions against narco-terrorism, noting that thousands of drug smugglers and peddlers were arrested this year. He said illicit assets were attached and drug-funded mansions were demolished to expose conflict entrepreneurs.

Sinha expressed a vision for the region to emerge as a model of prosperity with a modern economy and world-class healthcare by 2047. He emphasised that the future of Jammu and Kashmir must be shaped by peace, development, and equal opportunities.

The function was attended by J&K Waqf Board chairperson Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat. However, no leader from regional parties, including the National Conference, attended the event.
