Rajasthan places IPS officer Prashakha Mathur on awaiting posting list
The move follows an investigation into her husband, IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal, regarding alleged irregularities in villa purchases.
The Rajasthan government on Saturday placed senior IPS officer Prashakha Mathur on the awaiting posting orders (APO) list for administrative reasons, according to Times Now.
Mathur, a 1995-batch officer who served as Additional Director General of Police (Planning, Modernisation and Welfare) in Jaipur, is the wife of IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal. Some of the 40 villas and cottages under investigation are reportedly registered in her name.
Agrawal, a 1993-batch officer, was placed on the APO list on October 28. He is facing an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) investigation into the alleged purchase of 40 villas and cottages in Udaipur and Alwar districts for approximately Rs 6 crore.
ACB Director General Govind Gupta said on Friday that a preliminary inquiry found prima facie evidence that Agrawal allegedly misused his official position to provide undue benefits to a private company. The bureau alleges the properties were purchased from a hotel and resort company at prices substantially below market value.
The ACB is investigating whether Agrawal facilitated construction relaxations and special financial packages for the company. The probe is also examining if 20 villas were registered in Agrawal's name on March 27, the same day a special financial package was issued to the company.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has demanded a CBI and ED probe into the transactions. Gehlot alleged that the ACB, which functions under the chief minister, might not investigate independently given the nature of the allegations.
