Women demand participation in Aligarh Muslim University student elections

Students Zunaira Habib Alvi and Rahat Ul Aien questioned a vice-presidential candidate regarding their votes during campaigning on campus.

Female students at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have raised questions regarding their role in the upcoming Aligarh Muslim University Students Union (AMUSU) elections, according to The Hindu.

The elections are being held after a gap of eight years. During campaigning at the Department of History, students Zunaira Habib Alvi from Aligarh and Rahat Ul Aien from Kashmir asked a candidate about their votes.

Saquib Ali Khan, an M. Tech student and vice-presidential candidate, was campaigning in the prescribed black sherwani dress code when the interruption occurred.

The discussions regarding the elections have been taking place on the university lawns as the process gains momentum.
