Apple to launch next-gen touchscreen MacBook Pro with M7 chips

The upcoming laptop models are expected to feature M7 Pro and M7 Max chips designed for AI hardware capabilities.

Apple is planning to release second-generation touchscreen MacBook Pro models next year, according to a report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman cited by India Today.

The upcoming laptops are expected to feature M7 Pro and M7 Max chips. Gurman reports that Apple may skip the M6 Pro and M6 Max generations to move directly to these M7 chips, which are being developed for AI workloads.

The company is also reportedly planning an entry-level 14-inch M7 MacBook Pro. This model may feature a thinner, lighter design and slimmer bezels similar to the higher-end versions released this past week.

The current touchscreen MacBook Pro models were announced on October 28 in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. These models feature PROLED XDR displays using tandem OLED technology and are powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.

The current laptops support touch gestures like swiping and pinching to zoom, which Apple says can assist with tasks such as playing musical instruments on screen. They also feature the Dynamic Island instead of a traditional notch.

The high-end touchscreen MacBook Pro models featuring the M7 processors are reportedly planned for late 2027.
