Three separate incidents of child deaths reported in India

A five-year-old boy died in Uttar Pradesh after celebratory firing, while two other children were killed by their fathers in different states.

A five-year-old boy, Arsh Patel, died on Sunday evening in Sultanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, after being struck by a bullet during celebratory firing. According to The New Indian Express, the incident occurred in Futehari Banke village under the Kadipur police station limits before a wedding procession was set to depart.

The boy's mother, Amrita Patel, and other relatives took him to the Kadipur community health centre, but he was later referred to the Government Medical College in Sultanpur, where he was declared dead on arrival. Circle Officer Vinay Gautam said a relative named Ajay allegedly opened fire and that police are searching for the accused.

In a separate incident in Borabanda, a five-year-old boy was killed by his father in Shilpanagar on Sunday, Deccan Chronicle reported. The boy's mother had left for work at a catering event and discovered her son dead upon her return in the morning.

Borabanda police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances and motive behind the death. Meanwhile, in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, a 17-year-old Class 12 student, Inderpreet Kaur, was allegedly killed by her father, Amarjit Singh, with a kirpan on Thursday, according to The Indian Express.

The incident took place at their home in Dhoot Kalan village while the girl was alone with her father. DSP (Rural) Narinder Singh said preliminary inquiries suggested Amarjit was upset with his daughter over an unspecified issue, though family sources alleged he wanted a son.

A case has been registered at the Hariana police station following a statement from the victim's mother, Baljit Kaur. Police are currently making efforts to arrest Amarjit Singh, who fled the scene.
