Five Bengaluru city corporations launch One Ward initiative to address civic issues

The initiative aims to resolve micro-level problems through specific checklists prepared for 43 priority wards across the city.

Five Bengaluru city corporations on Sunday launched the “Ward One” initiative to address micro-level issues at the ward level, according to The Hindu.

Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda directed the initiative and symbolically launched it on Saturday at the Silk Board Junction in the South City Corporation.

On Sunday, all five corporations began work using previously prepared checklists. The Central City Corporation started near M.G. Road, while the West City Corporation covered Malleswaram and Sadashivanagar.

The works include repairing streetlights, fixing footpaths, pruning trees, and dredging drains. The corporations have been directed to create micro-level plans for major junctions to improve pedestrian infrastructure and traffic movement.

The five corporations have collectively identified 43 wards for priority work. Civic workers and officials have started tasks based on checklists detailing issues specific to each ward.

Since the announcement, several citizens have demanded that the corporations focus on clearing optical fiber cables from public places and footpaths.
