Hollywood Hills home of Dorothy Dandridge listed for $5.5 million

The 1920s Mediterranean-style property was previously owned by the pioneering actress between 1956 and 1963.

A Hollywood Hills residence once owned by actress Dorothy Dandridge has been listed for nearly $5.5 million, according to a Times of India report. The property, located at 1588 Viewsite Drive, is a 1920s Mediterranean-style home that offers views of Los Angeles.

The house spans approximately 4,368 square feet and contains four bedrooms and five bathrooms. It features stained-glass panels, exposed wooden ceiling beams, and a double-height entrance foyer with a carved stone fireplace.

Dandridge owned the residence from 1956 to 1963. She received an Oscar nomination in 1955 for her performance in Carmen Jones, becoming the first African American woman nominated in the Best Actress category.

The property last changed hands on April 21, 2014, for $2.9 million. The current asking price of $5.499 million represents an increase of approximately 90 per cent over that 2014 sale price.

Additional features of the home include a glass-walled gym above a two-car garage and a lower-level guest area with a lounge and wet bar. Approved plans and permits for a swimming pool are also available for the outdoor space.
