Minister Rajmohan alleges he was offered ₹5 crore bribe

Tamil Nadu Minister for Information and Publicity Rajmohan claimed a person offered him money to appoint a specific president for an association.

Tamil Nadu Minister for Information and Publicity Rajmohan alleged on Sunday that he was offered a ₹5 crore bribe to appoint a specific individual as the president of the Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram.

Speaking at the Tamil Nadu Day celebrations in Egmore, Chennai, according to The Hindu, Rajmohan said he had not revealed this information previously. He stated that Tamil Nadu Textbook Corporation chief Layola Mani is aware of the incident.

The Minister claimed a person told him they would offer ₹5 crore if given the presidency. Rajmohan said he told Layola Mani that he would not grant the post to an unsuitable person even for ₹500 crore.

He noted that Pushpavanam Kuppusamy, whom he described as the most suited for the role, was appointed president without any money being exchanged. Rajmohan added that every minister in the C. Joseph Vijay cabinet hates bribery and corruption.

AIADMK leader D. Jayakumar questioned the identity of the person who allegedly made the offer. Speaking to reporters, Jayakumar said the individual should be brought before the law and prosecuted.

Jayakumar agreed that Pushpavanam Kuppusamy was the right person for the post. He stated that if Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay was honest, he should name and prosecute the person involved.
