Kolkata Police summon ex-minister Indranil Sen's daughter in Puja pass scam probe
Averi Sen has been asked to appear at Lalbazar on Monday as investigators track the trail of money from allegedly fake passes.
The Kolkata Police have summoned Averi Sen, the daughter of former West Bengal minister Indranil Sen, for questioning regarding an alleged fake Durga Puja pass scam. According to The Hawk, she has been asked to appear at the Lalbazar police headquarters on Monday.
An investigating officer stated that a preliminary inquiry indicated a portion of the money from the sale of the allegedly fake passes was transferred to her bank account. Police said her questioning is necessary to establish the trail of the proceeds.
The investigation involves festival tours organised around the UNESCO-tagged celebration. Madhuchhanda Sen, the wife of Indranil Sen and owner of Mass Art, was questioned last week after securing anticipatory bail from the Calcutta High Court.
Indranil Sen, the former Minister of State for Information and Cultural Affairs, is currently in police custody. He was arrested last week after facing questioning at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Salt Lake.
The Kolkata Police and the ED are conducting parallel investigations into the multi-crore case. Additionally, a judicial inquiry committee led by retired Calcutta High Court judge Justice Biswajit Basu is examining alleged irregularities in the tendering process during Sen's tenure.
Indranil Sen is scheduled to be produced before a city court on November 10. A senior official of Mass Art, Dhrybojyoti Bose, is also under investigation.
