The Survey of India has completed the mapping of rural habitation areas in 14,866 villages across Gujarat to help households obtain legal ownership documents, according to a report by ANI on Saturday.
Siddhant Sen, Director of the Gujarat, Daman and Diu Geospatial Directorate of the Survey of India, said the initiative under the SVAMITVA scheme provides clarity regarding property ownership and creates opportunities for accessing loans against property.
The Directorate, which functions from Gandhinagar, is also mapping the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor for the Town Planning and Valuation Department (TPVD).
Under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, mapping has been undertaken for 55 cities to assist in developing GIS-based Development Plans and Master Plans for water supply, sewage systems and urban infrastructure.
The Directorate has established 102 Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) across Gujarat and the Union Territory of Daman and Diu to provide real-time positioning with centimetre-level accuracy.
So far, 1,042 users across the region have registered to access this facility, which is used by surveyors, engineers, farmers and drone operators.
