PC Jeweller shares fall 4 per cent after Sebi issues warnings
The market regulator issued administrative warning letters to the company's managing director and secretary over a database lapse.
Shares of PC Jeweller fell over 4 per cent on Monday after the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) issued administrative warning letters to the company's leadership. According to The Economic Times, the stock dropped to Rs 14.83 per share on Monday morning, marking its lowest level in nearly three weeks.
The regulator issued the warnings to promoter and managing director Balram Garg and company secretary and compliance officer Vijay Panwar. The action follows the failure to keep a structured digital database regarding unpublished price sensitive information linked to a business update for the quarter ending June 30, 2025.
In a regulatory filing, PC Jeweller acknowledged that the required digital database was not maintained for the update released on July 3, 2025. However, the company stated that the warning carries no financial penalty and will not affect its operations or financial status.
The jewellery retailer noted that safeguards were in place to prevent insider trading. The company said the trading window for designated persons and their relatives was closed from July 1, 2025, until August 3, 2025, which was two days after the June-quarter results were announced on August 1, 2025.
The company's shares have declined nearly 10 per cent in a week. This follows a period of growth where the stock rose 20 per cent in a month and more than 60 per cent during 2026 so far.
