Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad observes Shaheed Divas and inducts new committee
The council paid tribute to martyr Dilip Chakraborty and swore in a 199-member executive committee in Guwahati on Sunday.
The Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad observed 'Shaheed Divas' at its permanent office in Guwahati on Sunday, according to ANI. The organisation paid tribute to Dilip Chakraborty, a Secretariat employee and martyr of the Assam Movement, who died on November 1, 1980, following police atrocities.
During the proceedings, the existing body was dissolved and a new 199-member executive committee was sworn in. Kumud Kumar Kotoky took charge as the new President, while Pranab Bhuyan was appointed as the General Secretary.
President Kumud Kumar Kotoky stated that Chakraborty’s sacrifice for the rights and self-respect of employees would inspire the new team to resolve employee issues. General Secretary Pranab Bhuyan announced that the council's immediate agenda is to raise a voice against the National Pension System (NPS).
The ceremony at Karmachari Bhavan was attended by several dignitaries, including former senior bureaucrat Engineer Pradyut Kumar Choudhury. Other attendees included Nagen Kalita, Basanta Kalita, and Charan Deka.
Senior Excise Officer Sailendra Pandey, representing the council, said the state's employee community expects the new committee to remain committed to the welfare and progress of Assam and its people.
