Seven injured in Telangana as explosive device explodes during testing

Three children were among the seven people injured when a country-made bomb intended for wild boar hunting detonated in Kamareddy district.

Seven people, including three children, sustained injuries on Sunday when a country-made explosive device detonated in the Erramannoor area of Brahmanapalle village, according to India Today.

The incident occurred in Telangana's Kamareddy district while a group was testing the device in Banswada mandal. DSP Vitthal Reddy said the explosives had been prepared to hunt wild boars.

The explosion was triggered when one of the devices was struck forcefully against the ground. Four individuals were reportedly preparing to go hunting and chose to test the device before leaving.

Three of the injured, identified as Ramesh, Anjali and Sridevi, received serious injuries and were moved to Nizamabad District Hospital. The other four injured persons are out of danger, the DSP said.

DSP Vitthal Reddy clarified that the explosion happened during a test and not during a hunting expedition. Police have launched an investigation into how the explosives were handled and prepared.

Authorities are currently recording statements from local residents, eyewitnesses and the injured individuals to determine the circumstances of the incident.
