Tamil Nadu considers upgrading Tambaram Government Hospital into medical college

Health Minister KG Arunraj said the proposal will be discussed with Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay before a formal announcement.

The Tamil Nadu government is considering a proposal to upgrade the Tambaram District Government Hospital into a full-fledged medical college, according to Medical Dialogues.

Health and Family Welfare Minister KG Arunraj shared these developments on Sunday, stating that the plan would be discussed with Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay before any official announcement is made.

The state also plans to use its Nalam AI digital health platform to allow patients to book specific times for collecting medicines. Minister Arunraj said this system, which will be implemented shortly, aims to reduce hospital congestion and waiting times.

Regarding public health, Arunraj said the dengue situation in Tamil Nadu is under control. He noted that the government is conducting mosquito eradication drives and sending personnel to visit households to destroy larvae.

Government hospitals have been directed to monitor patients with fever closely. The minister added that doctors and medicines are prepared to ensure timely treatment and avoid complications.
