Goods worth Rs 10,000 crore stuck as Delhi bans BS IV vehicles
Approximately 60,000 commercial vehicles from Gurugram are barred from entering the national capital under the new rule, according to The New Indian Express.
The ban on BS IV vehicles in Delhi has disrupted the movement of goods worth around Rs 10,000 crore across the NCR, according to The New Indian Express.
Approximately 60,000 commercial vehicles from Gurugram are now barred from entering the national capital. The Gurugram Transport Association stated that the decision will halt roughly 20 per cent of the region’s commercial vehicles, including trucks, buses and taxis.
A member of the association said the rule will have a huge impact on the transport business because many vehicles in the business were manufactured before 2020 and are in good condition. He noted that these vehicles undergo regular inspections but will no longer be allowed to enter Delhi.
The association member added that the number of trips will reduce, which will impact the delivery of goods to Delhi. Thousands of people travelling between Gurugram and Delhi every day are also likely to face hardships.
Transporters have said they will follow government orders and use BS VI vehicles instead of BS IV ones, the Gurugram Transport Association stated.
