Centre notifies grievance rules for VB-G RAM G scheme
The new rules require complaints regarding the rural employment scheme to be resolved within 15 days.
The Centre on Monday notified the Grievance Redressal Rules under the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin), or VB-G RAM G. According to The Hindu, the rules allow complaints regarding the implementation of the scheme to be resolved within 15 days.
The Ministry of Rural Development has removed several provisions that were present in the draft rules from May. These include the requirement to file a first information report (FIR) if preliminary inquiries or social audits show evidence of financial irregularities. The Ministry also dropped a requirement to present action-taken reports at panchayat and district panchayat meetings.
The notified framework also excludes a previous suggestion to set aside one specific day every week for officials to accept complaints. Under the new system, people can submit grievances in person to a Grievance Redressal Officer, via Speed Post, through a digital platform, or via telephone helplines.
Grievances cannot be rejected due to the language, format, or procedural errors used during submission. Physical complaints received at the Gram Panchayat, Block, or District levels must be uploaded to the digital platform by the next working day.
Grievance officers must complete inquiries within seven days of receiving a complaint. If a grievance remains unresolved after 15 days, it must be escalated and tracked until it is disposed of. The rules also allow for appeals under the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025.
