Co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras sent a text message to her boyfriend regarding turbulence just minutes before her Learjet crashed in Florida on Sunday afternoon, according to the New York Post.
The aircraft, which had departed from Austin, Texas, on Sunday morning for the Bahamas, crashed in Palm Beach County, killing everyone on board. The identity of the other passengers and the co-pilot has not been released.
Filgueiras' stepfather, Thiago Corteleti, told the New York Post that she texted her boyfriend at 12:40 p.m., ten minutes before the accident occurred at 12:50 p.m.
The 20-year-old pilot had approximately 1,300 hours of flying experience. She had previously received her private pilot's license in October 2023 at the age of 17.
Audio from the final seconds of the flight reportedly features the co-pilot reciting the Lord's Prayer while Filgueiras screams as the plane plummets.
