Al-Seeb defeat East Bengal in AFC Champions League Two group fixture

Oman's Al-Seeb Club scored two late goals to beat East Bengal FC 2-0 at Salt Lake Stadium on Tuesday.

Al-Seeb Club secured a 2-0 victory against East Bengal FC in a Group D fixture of the AFC Champions League Two at the Salt Lake Stadium on Tuesday, according to reports by The Hindu and Sportstar. The Omani side scored twice in the closing stages of the match to claim all three points.

East Bengal dominated possession and created several opportunities but failed to score, largely due to saves from Al-Seeb goalkeeper Ibrahim Al Mukhaini. The hosts' defensive leader Anwar Ali was replaced by Sandip Mandi in the 18th minute after sustaining an injury.

Al-Seeb broke the deadlock in the 85th minute when Axel Meye controlled a cross from Hassan Al-Ajmi, beat Mandi, and fired home. Meye then assisted substitute Zahir Al-Aghbari, who slotted the ball into the bottom-right corner in the 90+1st minute to seal the win.

East Bengal head coach Antonio Habas initially left three of the six registered foreign players on the bench. Forwards Ake Loba and Lukasz Zwolinski were introduced midway through the second half, but the team remained unable to convert chances.

The defeat leaves East Bengal at the bottom of Group D with two points. Al-Seeb moved to third place in the group with four points.
