Two Delhi-bound trains delayed after freight train derails in Gujarat

An empty freight train travelling from Dahod toward Jakot derailed near Dhedela on Monday night, according to ANI.

Two wheels of an empty freight train derailed near Dhedela in Gujarat on Monday night, according to ANI. The train was travelling from Dahod toward Jakot and was heading toward Madhya Pradesh at the time of the incident.

The derailment affected traffic on the down line and caused delays for two Delhi-bound trains. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Railway teams immediately initiated restoration work following the derailment. Further details regarding the incident are currently awaited.

In a separate incident, seven empty railway coaches rolled away unattended from the Jolarpettai Junction railway yard in Tamil Nadu's Tirupattur district. The coaches travelled nearly six kilometres without an engine before derailing near Thamaleri Muthur.

The coaches were reportedly stationed at the coach maintenance yard for repair-related work and were pushed by an engine. It is alleged they were not properly secured or brought under control by railway staff, causing them to roll away.

The Tamil Nadu incident disrupted train services between Bengaluru and Chennai. A gatekeeper alerted authorities after hearing the noise of the derailed coaches, which reportedly helped avert a major accident.
