Odisha secures over Rs 1.17 lakh crore in renewable energy proposals

The state signed 18 Memoranda of Understanding to add approximately 11,742 MW of clean energy capacity at a Delhi summit.

Odisha secured more than Rs 1.17 lakh crore in prospective clean-energy investment proposals on Tuesday at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 in Delhi, according to Odisha Bytes.

A total of 18 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were exchanged during the event at Bharat Mandapam. These agreements aim to add around 11,742 MW of clean energy capacity through projects involving solar, wind, green hydrogen, battery storage, and pumped storage.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated that the state intends to become one of the top five power-exporting states in India by 2047. He noted that the government will provide stable policies, ensure projects are approved on time, and develop strong transmission infrastructure to draw investors.

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi said Odisha is strategically important to the country's clean-energy transition due to its industrial strengths, port infrastructure, and natural resources. He mentioned the state's goal to reach 10.96 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo also inaugurated the Odisha Pavilion at the summit. The four-day international event is expected to include participation from more than 130 countries and over 400 exhibitors.
