Prema Rawat hits fastest fifty in women's T20 cricket

The Uttarakhand all-rounder reached the half-century milestone in 14 balls to break the previous record held by Fatima Sana.

India all-rounder Prema Rawat scored the fastest fifty in women's T20 cricket, reaching the milestone in 14 balls on Monday, November 2. Playing for Uttarakhand against Hyderabad in the Senior Women's T20 Trophy, Rawat's unbeaten 50 included three fours and six sixes, according to reports by Hindustan Times and Outlook.

The performance at the MCA Cricket Stadium in Gahunje, Pune, broke the previous record held by Pakistan captain Fatima Sana, who reached a half-century in 15 balls against Zimbabwe. Rawat's innings featured a strike rate of 357, helping Uttarakhand post 187/2 in their allotted overs.

Uttarakhand secured an 89-run victory as Hyderabad was restricted to 98/8. Rawat contributed with the ball as well, taking two wickets for 12 runs in her four overs of bowling.

Rawat made her T20I debut for India earlier this year during the Women's World Cup against South Africa. She has played seven T20Is for India, scoring 13 runs and taking seven wickets, with a best bowling figure of 3/9 against Pakistan.

In the Women's Premier League (WPL), Rawat has played six matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). She was retained by RCB ahead of the WPL 2027 auction and is set to play in the tournament's fifth edition in January-February.
