Stalin and EPS criticise TVK government over economic performance in Tamil Nadu

The DMK and AIADMK leaders cited a dip in GST revenue and the diversion of manufacturing investments to Andhra Pradesh.

DMK president M K Stalin and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday criticised the TVK government regarding the economic performance of Tamil Nadu, according to The New Indian Express.

Stalin alleged that the state is moving in reverse gear and claimed that Korean automobile parts suppliers diverted Rs 1,614 crore worth of investments from Tamil Nadu to Andhra Pradesh due to government negligence.

The DMK leader further accused the government of sidelining the state's investment promotion agency, Guidance TN, because of individual egos.

Former finance minister Thangam Thennarasu noted that the state's GST revenue growth in October was 3 per cent, while Andhra Pradesh recorded 24 per cent, Kerala 23 per cent, Karnataka 18 per cent, and Telangana 14 per cent.

Palaniswami expressed concern that the state's GST revenue is below the national average and stated that inflation in Tamil Nadu is higher than the national average.

He also said that industrial investments intended for the state are heading to Andhra Pradesh and urged the government not to destroy the development path previously built.
