Maharashtra universities to follow uniform academic calendar from this year

The Maharashtra State Academic and Research Council has drafted a schedule to standardise teaching days and examination timelines across the state.

The Maharashtra State Academic and Research Council (MahaSARC) has introduced a uniform academic calendar for all public universities in the state, according to The Times of India.

The new schedule aims to bring parity in teaching days and assist students moving between universities. Separate calendars have been drafted for traditional courses and professional faculties, including law, pharmacy, and engineering.

For traditional courses like science, commerce, and arts, the first term is set to begin between June 10 and July 1, with exams held between October and November. The second term will run from November 20 to January 5, with examinations scheduled between March 20 and May 15, 2027.

Professional courses such as management, architecture, and engineering will start their first term between June and July, with exams in the October to December period. The second term for these courses will begin between November and December, with exams held between March and May. A government official stated that the first-year professional course schedule will depend on the state CET cell schedule.

Universities must declare results within 30 days of the final exam. The revaluation process requires the application window to stay open for 15 days, with photocopies of answer sheets provided within 15 days of application and the full revaluation completed within 30 days of the initial result.

Registrars, vice-chancellors, and directors of examination boards are responsible for meeting these deadlines. Universities are expected to upload the full schedule in the coming days.
