Ramalinga Reddy seeks halt to HSR Layout civic works over quality concerns
The Bengaluru Forest Minister has demanded a review of completed projects and action against the contractor following a site inspection.
Bengaluru Forest Minister and BTM Layout MLA Ramalinga Reddy has written to the Greater Bengaluru Authority’s Chief Commissioner to demand an immediate halt to civic works in HSR Layout, according to The Hindu.
The Minister flagged substandard work involving the construction of a 1.2-metre-wide stormwater drain on 14th Main Road in HSR Layout Stage 5. This work is being carried out ahead of white-topping projects by Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Limited (B-SMILE).
Mr. Reddy stated that the poor quality of work has affected the local underground drainage system. He also noted that the condition of the road has disrupted smooth traffic movement, causing inconvenience to commuters and residents.
During a site inspection, the Minister observed that the ongoing works were of poor quality. He alleged that the B-SMILE engineer in charge failed to address the issue after it was brought to his notice.
Mr. Reddy has demanded that the civic authority halt the ongoing works and review all work completed so far. He has also sought action against the contractor for the alleged poor quality of work.
