Science and mathematics are languages of nature, says Chikkamagaluru DC
Deputy Commissioner Bhanwar Singh Meena urged students to ask fundamental questions to understand the world around them during a science fest.
Chikkamagaluru Deputy Commissioner Bhanwar Singh Meena said science and mathematics are the languages of nature on Wednesday. He was speaking after inaugurating the Avishkar and Ramanujan Spark Quest science fest in Chikkamagaluru, according to The Hindu.
The event was organised in association with Excellent Moodubidire. Mr. Meena encouraged students to be curious about their surroundings and to use fundamental questions to understand them.
“We can decode nature through science,” Meena said. He also advised students not to limit themselves to textbooks but to connect their learning with real-world examples.
During the programme, Meena asked students questions regarding the moon's atmosphere, gravity, and weight. Students responded that sound would not be audible on the moon because it lacks an atmosphere and noted that weight would differ due to different gravity.
The Deputy Commissioner also drew attention to everyday phenomena, such as why ice floats on water and the colours seen in nature. He told students to ask teachers or search online whenever they have doubts.
