Telangana CM directs officials to continue Maharashtra dialogue on Tummidihatti barrage

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed irrigation authorities to maintain rapport with Maharashtra regarding the proposed Pranahita river project.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed irrigation department officials to maintain a good rapport and sustain discussions with the Maharashtra government regarding the proposed Tummidihatti barrage construction, according to reports by The Hindu, ANI, and Deccan Chronicle.

During a review meeting held on Tuesday at his Jubilee Hills residence, the Chief Minister, alongside Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, instructed authorities to prepare thorough details concerning areas that might be submerged by the 152-metre high barrage.

Reddy emphasised that all necessary paperwork, such as current agreements and other pertinent matters, must be shared with the Maharashtra government. He also stated that Telangana would not oppose Maharashtra performing its own survey to assess potential land submergence.

The Chief Minister noted that the state is willing to provide sufficient compensation for lands in Maharashtra affected by the project. He added that the government is prepared to place funds into a joint account held by both state governments.

Officials have been ordered to provide any information requested by Maharashtra in a timely manner. The meeting was attended by Irrigation Advisor Adityanath Das, Secretary E. Sridhar, Engineer-in-Chief O.V.

Ramesh Babu, and other senior officials.
