FIIs record largest single-day net purchase in over a year
Foreign institutional investors bought shares worth nearly Rs 15,000 crore on November 5, reversing previous outflows.
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) made their largest single-day net purchase in Indian equities in more than a year on November 5, according to provisional exchange data reported by Moneycontrol.
FIIs purchased shares worth Rs 31,797.86 crore and sold Rs 16,823.18 crore across the NSE, BSE and MSEI, resulting in net purchases of Rs 14,974.68 crore. This figure surpassed the previous daily high of Rs 12,594 crore recorded on June 26, 2025.
The buying follows a period where FIIs were net sellers of approximately Rs 45,160 crore in October. In contrast, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) recorded net sales of Rs 10,444.54 crore through November so far.
The Nifty 50 rose 576 points, or 2.40%, to 24,536.60, while the Sensex climbed 2,008.61 points, or 2.60%, to 79,310.01. This rally added roughly Rs 8 lakh crore to investor wealth and pushed BSE market capitalisation beyond Rs 500 lakh crore.
Siddhartha Khemka, Head of Research–Wealth Management at Motilal Oswal Financial Services, said Indian equities are expected to continue a positive trend because of falling crude oil prices, the return of FII buying, and strong global cues.
Nandish Shah, Deputy Vice-President at HDFC Securities, noted that NSE cash-market turnover increased by 30% from the last session, indicating wider participation in the rally.
