KMF hikes ghee prices in Karnataka as Amul raises rates
The Karnataka Milk Federation increased ghee prices by Rs 100 per litre while Amul raised rates due to higher milk production costs.
The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) announced a price hike for ghee on Thursday, increasing the cost by Rs 100 per litre, according to The New Indian Express. A 1-litre ghee sachet that previously cost Rs 750 will now be sold at Rs 850.
Under the new rate card finalised on November 4, a litre of ghee in a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle or tin will retail at Rs 870. KMF officials stated that the basic price of a litre of ghee is Rs 735.93, with the final cost including Goods & Services Tax (GST) of Rs 36.80 and a margin of Rs 77.27.
The KMF also increased the price of one kilogram of paneer to Rs 485 from the previous Rs 408. This follows a recent hike in the rates of milk and curd in the state.
In a separate development reported by Moneycontrol, the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), which sells products under the Amul brand, raised prices effective November 2. GCMMF stated the revision was due to increased input costs for milk production.
Amul increased the price of its one-litre ghee pouch by Rs 50, from Rs 630 to Rs 680, while cow ghee rose from Rs 695 to Rs 735 per litre. The price of a 500 gram pack of Amul table butter also increased by Rs 15, moving from Rs 310 to Rs 325.
