CBSE Class 10 and 12 board exams to start from Feb 16

More than 46.3 lakh students have registered for the 2027 examinations, according to the released date sheets.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the date sheets for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations for the 2027 session on Friday, according to reports by The Times of India, India Today and The New Indian Express. Both sets of examinations are scheduled to begin on February 16, 2027, with all papers starting at 10:30 am.

CBSE controller of examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj stated that over 46.3 lakh students have registered for the exams. This includes more than 26.5 lakh students for Class 10 and over 19.8 lakh students for Class 12. Class 10 students will appear for 83 subjects, while Class 12 students will take 121 subjects.

The Class 10 examinations will begin with Painting on February 16 and conclude on March 9. For Class 12, the examinations start with Physics on February 16 and will continue until April 9.

The board said the schedules were finalised after schools completed the submission of the list of candidates and an analysis of subject combinations. More than 40,000 subject combinations were factored in to ensure that examinations for any two subjects opted by a student do not coincide.

The CBSE also noted that adequate gaps were provided between subjects commonly offered together. The board added that tentative schedules for major entrance tests for Class 12 students were also taken into account to conclude the boards before those tests.

Practical examinations and internal assessments for the 2026-27 session will be conducted from January 1 to February 13, 2027. For winter-bound schools, practical exams will be held from November 9 to December 19, 2026.
