Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal apologises to Indian doctors over X post

The apology follows a combative note regarding criticism of his new health wearable, Temple.

Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal has apologised to Indian doctors after posting a combative note on X regarding criticism of his new health wearable, Temple, according to The Times of India.

Goyal stated he should not have bucketed all Indian doctors into one single box. He said his frustration was aimed at a few influencer doctors whom he accused of spreading twisted facts to call the device a scam.

The apology follows a seven-point note titled 'Dear Concerned Indian Doctors' posted the previous night. In that post, Goyal argued a scam would not survive Temple's 14-day, no-questions-asked return window.

Goyal noted that Temple has cost $30 million to build so far, with $20 million being his own money. He said the current funding round is mostly made up of customers.

Temple is a mic-free, bean-shaped device that tracks heart rate, HRV, sleep, and VO2max. It uses motion sensors to convert voice vibrations to text, a feature Goyal calls 'roomdeaf' audio.

The device has previously faced scepticism from an AIIMS Delhi physician-scientist. Goyal said Temple will release pre-prints ahead of peer-reviewed papers, and Temple 01 is set to ship in early 2027.
