Janice Tjen and Magda Linette reach Chennai Open final

The top-seeded Indonesian and the third-seeded Pole secured their places in the singles final at the WTA 250 event.

Top seed Janice Tjen and third seed Magda Linette have qualified for the WTA 250 Chennai Open final, according to reports from The Times of India and Sportstar. Tjen, the defending champion, defeated American Robin Montgomery 6-4, 6-3 at the SDAT Stadium in Nungambakkam on Saturday. Linette overcame seventh seed Anastasia Zakharova 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 to join her in the final.

Tjen, the world No. 75, recorded her ninth consecutive win at the venue. During the match, she saved break points and used a forehand down the line to win a 13-shot rally on match point. Tjen noted that playing amidst the sound of firecrackers was difficult because the noise occurred at random times.

Linette, a former World No. 19, recovered from a first-set loss to defeat the Russian Zakharova. The 34-year-old Pole used the pace of Zakharova's shots to redirect the ball into corners during the second and third sets.

In the women's doubles, the Indian pair of Rutuja Bhosale and Vaishnavi Adkar reached the final after defeating Alana Smith and Weronika Falkowska 6-2, 2-6, 10-8. They are the first all-Indian duo to qualify for a doubles final at a Tour-level tournament.
