Three bodies found at home of Krakow mass shooting suspect
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said footage shows three people dead at the residence of the man suspected of a mass shooting.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Sunday that footage from the home of a mass shooting suspect in Krakow shows three bodies. The deceased, identified as two women and a man, were likely close family members of the suspect, according to a report by the Times of India.
The attack occurred on Saturday afternoon in Krakow’s Main Market Square. Authorities stated that a 25-year-old Polish citizen drove through the tourist area and used an automatic weapon to fire at various locations, leaving six people dead and 15 injured.
Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński said the suspect was influenced by ultranationalistic and radical far-right ideologies. Police spokesperson Katarzyna Cisło added that the attacker wore a bulletproof vest and military-style clothing, and used a military-type long gun.
The victims included four women and two men, with one woman being a British citizen. Among the injured were two police officers and five foreign nationals, while 13 people were hospitalised in serious condition.
Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz described the incident as an act of terror. Mayor Łukasz Gibała announced that Krakow will observe official mourning until Wednesday, though he noted the city will remain open to visitors.
Investigators are currently examining the suspect's background, the weapons found in his vehicle, and evidence from his home to determine the motive. The suspect was wounded by police and taken to a hospital for surgery.
