Goa's Palolem Beach ranked best in Asia and sixth globally
The South Goa beach is the only Asian location to feature in the top 25 of the Beach.com Global Beach Index 2026.
Palolem Beach in South Goa has secured the top position in Asia and was ranked sixth in the world's top 25 beaches, according to a report by Business Today on Sunday.
The Beach.com Global Beach Index 2026 evaluated locations using expert nominations, visitor reviews, NASA water data, and 18 standardised parameters including accessibility and climate.
Palolem, situated in Canacona taluka, earned recognition for its water quality, amenities, beach quality, and the general experience of visitors, the department said.
Goa Tourism Minister Rohan A Khaunte said the international ranking showed the natural beauty of the coastline and the unique experiences that draw global travellers.
Tourism Director Kedar Naik stated the recognition endorses Goa's international tourism standing and will help promote South Goa, the state's hinterland, and its cultural experiences.
The state is currently working to promote responsible tourism and move beyond destinations defined only by high visitor numbers and beaches.
