Modi congratulates ISRO on successful NVS-03 satellite launch

The Prime Minister stated the mission strengthens India's indigenous NavIC navigation system.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated scientists and engineers at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) following the successful launch of the NVS-03 satellite. According to Telangana Today, the satellite was carried by the GSLV-F18 rocket.

The launch occurred at 11:51 pm on Friday from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The 50-metre-tall, three-stage rocket carried the 2,232-kg NVS-03 satellite with the goal of placing it into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit.

In a post on X, Modi said the mission represents a significant move toward reinforcing NavIC, the nation's local satellite navigation system. He added that the satellite's improved features will assist India's goal of self-reliance in vital technologies.

NVS-03 is the third satellite in the second-generation NVS series. It is intended to bolster the NavIC constellation and maintain the continuity of navigation services.

The satellite includes an indigenous atomic clock as well as procured atomic clocks. It also features the L1 navigation signal alongside the existing L5 and S signals to improve system capabilities.

NavIC provides Position, Velocity and Timing services across India and a region roughly 1,500 km beyond the landmass. Deccan Chronicle reported that the launch restored the system to a minimum operational configuration of four satellites.
