Ladakh Census 2027 fieldwork completed, says official
The District Census Handbook exercise covered 244 villages and two statutory towns, including Leh and Kargil, according to Amit Sharma.
Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh Director of Census Operations Amit Sharma said on Saturday that the Census-related exercise in Ladakh has been completed in all respects.
The official stated that the remaining District Census Handbook (DCHB) fieldwork was successfully finished on October 30.
Sharma, who is also the Chief Principal Census Officer of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, said the DCHB exercise covered two statutory towns, Leh and Kargil, and 244 villages.
The director noted that population enumeration has been completed in the 100 per cent snowbound region.
Sharma described the completion as an important milestone for Census 2027 preparations.
The data is now available for validation, evaluation and final publication as per the prescribed procedure, the official said.
