Diljit Dosanjh addresses Satluj film remarks at New Delhi concert
The singer responded to critics who mocked his film during earlier protests in the capital.
Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh addressed recent controversies during the opening night of his Aura India Tour in New Delhi on Friday, according to The Assam Tribune.
The performer responded to people who allegedly mocked his film 'Satluj' during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests in Delhi a few months ago. The film is about human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.
Dosanjh told the audience that he is an artist and requested to be left in peace while he remains quiet. He stated that he supports the people but told them not to instruct Punjabis on how to fight battles.
The singer also mentioned that he fought for the film for a long time. He added that while he loves his audience, it is fine if some people hate him.
Abhijeet Dipke, a leader of the CJP, had previously questioned the singer's stance regarding the student protests. Dipke had noted the connection between the singer and politically charged projects like 'Satluj'.
Following the concert, Dipke posted a note on social media titled 'To Diljit Paaji'. He said he was hurt by a comment made in June but maintained his admiration for the singer's authenticity and music.
