Dhar police uncover cannabis cultivation worth Rs 25 crore using drones

Four people were arrested in Madhya Pradesh after police detected 6,700 kg of illegal cannabis in hilly areas.

Police in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district uncovered the illegal cultivation of approximately 6,700 kg of cannabis, valued at an estimated Rs 25 crore, according to ThePrint.

The discovery occurred during 'Operation Prahar', which targeted inaccessible hilly regions in southern Dhar, including Tanda, Bagh, Gandhwani, Mandav, and Manawar.

Additional Superintendent of Police Vijay Dawar told reporters that drones were used to monitor forest lands, agricultural fields, and difficult terrain.

Dawar stated that police acted on drone imagery which showed cannabis plants growing alongside pigeon pea and maize crops.

The operation started on Friday and lasted until Saturday evening, according to the official.

Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, and further investigations are currently underway.
