Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Singh Seechewal will lead a nine to 10-member panel to find solutions for the water body.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has established a nine to 10-member committee to address pollution in the Buddha Nullah, according to reports by The Tribune and ThePrint. The panel will be chaired by Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Singh Seechewal.

The Chief Minister chaired a high-level meeting to review the situation in Ludhiana. He stated that finding a permanent solution to the issue is a top priority to protect public health and the environment.

The committee has been instructed to submit a detailed report within 15 days. This report should suggest ways to stop untreated waste from entering the water body and include consultations with residents, industry stakeholders, and dairy representatives.

The panel will include the Secretary of Local Government, representatives from the industries department, the Punjab Pollution Control Board, and Ludhiana police. It will also feature two representatives from the dairy complex.

Chief Minister Mann directed officials to take strict action against anyone violating pollution norms. He said the government is determined to restore the historic water body and will not compromise on the citizens' right to clean water.

Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain confirmed that the committee was formed to develop proposals for reducing pollution within the 15-day deadline.
