Ramayana advance bookings cross ₹40 crore globally before release

The Nitesh Tiwari directorial has seen strong domestic and international pre-sales ahead of its November 5 release.

The Nitesh Tiwari directorial Ramayana: Part One has reached a worldwide advance-booking gross of ₹40 crore five days before its release, according to the Hindustan Times. The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, saw a boost in overseas pre-sales following its world premiere in Los Angeles.

In India, advance bookings have seen significant movement after a deadlock between distributors and exhibitors was resolved on Friday, the Hindustan Times reported. The stalemate involved Dharma Productions, the film's distributor, seeking a higher share of theatrical revenue due to production costs, while exhibitors were unwilling to agree to the terms.

According to Business Today, the film's Day 1 advance gross in India reached ₹22.54 crore, including blocked seats, across 12,631 shows. The Hindi version contributed ₹18.20 crore to this total, representing 82 per cent of the Day 1 advance booking. The Kannada version accounted for ₹2.67 crore, while Telugu and Tamil versions contributed ₹1.06 crore and ₹17.32 lakh respectively.

The National Capital Region emerged as the strongest Indian market with ₹3.45 crore in Day 1 advance gross, including blocked seats. Bengaluru followed with ₹3.27 crore, while Mumbai recorded ₹2.72 crore. The top 10 cities accounted for 65 per cent of the film's Day 1 advance gross in India.

Overseas, the film has collected approximately $3.86 million, or roughly ₹32.5 crore, through international advance bookings, according to Business Today. North America remains the largest contributor to overseas pre-sales, accounting for $2.86 million.
