Telangana government sets maximum retail prices for three fine rice varieties
The government fixed prices for BPT, RNR, and HMT rice varieties in Hyderabad and Medchal following discussions with traders.
The Telangana government on Saturday announced the maximum retail price for three widely consumed fine rice varieties in Hyderabad and Medchal, according to The Hindu.
The price for BPT and KNM variety has been fixed at ₹66 per kg. RNR and Telangana Sona variety will be priced at ₹74 per kg, while HMT and JSR variety is set at ₹79 per kg.
Hyderabad’s Chief Rationing Officer directed that these prices must be displayed on visible banners at rice mills, wholesale stores, and retail outlets. These banners must include the company name at the bottom.
Medchal district officials issued similar orders. The pricing was decided after discussions with retailers and wholesalers as fine rice prices had crossed ₹80 per kg in and around the city.
The Chief Rationing Officer stated that foodgrains cannot be sold above the maximum retail price and noted that Civil Supplies officials will monitor the situation. Action will be taken against any violations.
