American tourist among three injured in Tiruvannamalai road accident
An American tourist, a cab driver, and an autorickshaw driver were injured when a car hit a three-wheeler on Saturday morning.
Three people, including an American tourist, were injured on Saturday morning when a car hit an autorickshaw on the Tiruvannamalai–Bengaluru High Road. The accident occurred around 8 a.m. at Manmalai village near Chengam town in Tiruvannamalai, according to The Hindu.
The injured have been identified as Glendy, a 51-year-old American tourist, V. Bila, a 29-year-old cab driver from Kalasapakkam town, and G. Elumalai, a 38-year-old autorickshaw driver from Nachipattu village.
An initial inquiry stated that Bargavin, 58, and his wife, Glendy, an American couple from California, were travelling by cab after visiting Yelagiri Hills and Gingee Fort. While they were returning to Chennai, an autorickshaw entered the stretch from a village road, causing Bila to lose control of the car and hit the three-wheeler.
Passersby and motorists rescued the injured and admitted them to the Government Taluk Hospital in Chengam. They were later referred to the Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruvannamalai.
Police said that thick mist in the morning hours may have caused low visibility on the stretch. A further probe is under way.
