Anurag Thakur criticises Congress over Delhi protests

The BJP MP accused opposition parties of trying to cause political instability and spread anarchy through their demonstrations.

Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) MP Anurag Thakur has criticised the Congress and other opposition parties for their protests in Delhi, according to ANI.

Thakur alleged that the opposition is trying to create anarchy and political instability in the country. He stated that India's democratic institutions are strong and the people will not allow the nation to become like Bangladesh, Nepal, Libya, or Syria.

The MP commented on the gathering outside Himachal Bhawan, where protesters raised slogans. He claimed the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh has failed to meet its electoral guarantees and is using the Delhi protests to avoid accountability for its governance.

Thakur also addressed allegations regarding the use of foreign toolkits against the government. He said the opposition would not dare to try and topple the government using their own strength.

Responding to claims about the deletion of names from electoral rolls, Thakur defended the removal of ineligible entries. He said that votes of deceased persons, those who have moved, or duplicate entries should be deleted.

The remarks follow the 'Chalo Delhi' protest march by the INDIA bloc at Ramlila Maidan. Supporters have demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision exercise and electoral roll deletions.
