Narmada Phase IV project is Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav's biggest achievement, says Kailash Vijayvargiya
The Madhya Pradesh urban development and housing minister praised the mayor for securing Indore's drinking water needs for the next 25 years.
Madhya Pradesh urban development and housing minister Kailash Vijayvargiya described the Narmada Phase IV project as the biggest achievement of Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav. Speaking at the Free Press Mayor’s Felicitation programme, Vijayvargiya said the mayor has made arrangements to meet the drinking water needs of Indore for the next 25 years.
According to the Free Press Journal, Vijayvargiya stated that this achievement would find a place in the golden pages of history. He also noted that while people often criticise corporators and the police, those who examine the work closely can understand the effort required to mobilise funds and complete development projects.
The minister addressed the misuse of public amenities, noting that drainage lines can get clogged when people throw solid waste or clothes into them. He said that while corporators face criticism when such systems choke, people must learn to maintain public infrastructure responsibly.
Earlier at the event, Free Press editor Arshit Gautam delivered a welcome address regarding the newspaper's 44-year journey. He noted that Indore's area expanded from 62 square kilometres in 1995 to 331 square kilometres in 2025, with projections to reach 417 square kilometres by 2040.
Gautam also highlighted that Indore has remained the cleanest city in the nation for eight consecutive years, calling it a significant achievement.
