KPTCL to launch single digital platform for Karnataka power sector
The new KPTCL-GTD system will integrate power generation, transmission, and distribution processes to improve transparency and speed.
Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) is developing a centralised digital platform called KPTCL-GTD to manage the state's power sector, according to The Hindu.
KPTCL Managing Director V. Ram Prasath Manohar said the platform aims to integrate data and workflows across various departments and institutions.
The system will digitise and automate tasks including energy reconciliation, financial settlements, billing, and the buying and selling of power.
Manohar stated that the platform will allow power producers, purchasers, transmission utilities, and electricity supply companies to manage transactions through one common system.
The digital platform intends to integrate the Meter Reading Interface to retrieve meter data directly, reducing the need for manual calculations.
Energy and Tourism Minister K.J. George said the objective is to move processes previously handled manually onto one platform using advanced technology.
