Tim Seifert misses maiden international century in New Zealand win over India

The opener scored 93 runs as New Zealand secured a seven-wicket victory in the final T20I at Seddon Park.

Tim Seifert scored 93 runs off 50 deliveries during New Zealand's seven-wicket win against India in the fifth and final T20I at Seddon Park on Sunday. According to the Times of India, Seifert fell seven runs short of a maiden international century after being bowled by Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Seifert, who had recorded four successive single-digit scores earlier in the series, was dropped on 13 during his innings. Despite the personal disappointment, the opener said the main thing was the win, though he joked that the wait for his first hundred felt like a weight on his back.

New Zealand won the final match to finish the series 3-2 in favour of India. Seifert noted that the team had to adapt to different wickets and learn from earlier matches in Christchurch to improve their performance.

The opener also praised teammate Glenn Phillips for his performance throughout the series. Phillips finished with 341 runs, breaking the record of 331 runs previously held by Phil Salt for the most runs in a bilateral T20I series.

Phillips' series included scores of 82 not out, 70, 17, 107, and an unbeaten 65. He became one of only three batters to record four or more half-centuries in a bilateral T20I series.
