Rishabh Pant doubtful for first Test against New Zealand

The wicketkeeper-batter has been withdrawn from the third India A match against New Zealand A as a precautionary measure.

Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was ruled out of the third red-ball match between India A and New Zealand A on Sunday, according to Telangana Today and Sportstar.

The fixture is scheduled to begin on November 7. Pant's absence from this game raises questions regarding his availability for the first Test in Wellington, which starts on November 19.

A BCCI source stated that Pant was withdrawn from the unofficial Test as a precaution. While the player has started skill training and is not in pain, there is no confirmed timeline for his return to competitive cricket.

Pant previously missed the first two India A matches in New Zealand due to a side strain sustained during the Irani Cup.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir said he had no information regarding the left-hander's availability for the first Test and would share updates once they are available.
