BJP holds counter-protests as INDIA bloc rallies in Delhi

The BJP organised demonstrations across India on Sunday to oppose the Congress-led alliance's protest at Ramlila Maidan.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held several counter-protests across the country on Sunday against the INDIA bloc's 'Chalo Dilli' rally at Ramlila Maidan. The opposition gathering demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

In West Delhi, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri led a march from Hari Nagar towards Tilak Nagar Metro Station. The BJP organised this demonstration to demand an apology from Congress and Rahul Gandhi regarding the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, noting the rally falls on the anniversary of the violence.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah targeted Rahul Gandhi and the INDIA bloc, accusing them of pursuing politics based on obstruction and negativity. Shah stated that such an approach would result in the opposition spending another five years away from power.

BJP national president Nitin Nabin led a march in Rohtak, Haryana, while BJP Maharashtra president Ravindra Chavan led a padyatra in Mumbai. The party's campaign, titled 'Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao', aims to counter what it describes as misinformation and attempts to create instability.

The INDIA bloc rally included expected appearances by leaders such as Mallikarjun Kharge, Mamata Banerjee, and Akhilesh Yadav. Student activists from the Students' Federation of India also marched towards the venue in support of the opposition's demands.
