RG Kar victim's mother questions CBI probe and alleges medical college graft

BJP MLA Ratna Debnath expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation progress and claimed corruption persists in West Bengal medical colleges.

Ratna Debnath, a BJP MLA and the mother of the R G Kar Hospital rape-murder victim, expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation progress on Sunday, according to the Deccan Herald and ThePrint.

The Panihati legislator alleged that corruption in West Bengal medical colleges has not decreased despite a change in government.

Debnath questioned the handling of the case by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). She stated that her family did not request a federal investigation and claimed the agency has failed to make headway.

The victim's parents have repeatedly voiced unhappiness with the probe, stating that those they believe are responsible for the crime have not been brought to justice.

The case was moved to the CBI following an order from the Calcutta High Court, which had taken suo motu cognisance of the matter.

Debnath said she has received files regarding alleged graft in various medical colleges and intends to discuss these matters with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari to seek justice.
