Trump will invite Zelensky to G20 summit
US President Donald Trump expressed his intention to invite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the December G20 gathering in Florida.
US President Donald Trump said he would invite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the G20 summit. This statement came hours after Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggested that Zelensky's participation in the December meeting in Florida was a possibility.
During a press conference in Atlanta, Rubio stated that the decision belonged to the President. He noted that he would not rule out an invitation, though he had no official announcement at that time.
Rubio said Washington is currently focused on finding a negotiated conclusion to the Russia-Ukraine war. He mentioned that the United States is communicating with both sides and receiving encouragement from other nations to continue these efforts.
The Secretary of State also noted that Washington is looking at plans to safeguard energy and grain shipments in the Black Sea. He identified India and Türkiye as nations providing ideas regarding these proposals.
The G20 foreign ministers met in Atlanta to prepare for the leaders' summit in Doral. Rubio said the ministerial agenda focused on economic matters such as supply chains, energy, and critical minerals.
