Wanted criminal killed in Noida police encounter

Two policemen sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of fire in Sector 126 on Saturday night.

A wanted criminal, Aman Tyagi, was killed during a confrontation with the Noida Police in Sector 126 on Saturday night. Tyagi, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, carried a reward of Rs 50,000 for his arrest.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Preeti Yadav said the incident occurred when a joint team from the Crime Response Team and Sector 126 police station was checking vehicles and persons. When officers tried to stop a motorcyclist, the suspect allegedly opened fire at the team.

The police returned fire in self-defence, resulting in injuries to Tyagi and two officers. Tyagi was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead, while Sub-Inspector Narendra and Constable Dheeraj were treated for bullet wounds to their legs.

Police recovered a motorcycle, an illegal pistol, and spent cartridges from the scene. The site was inspected by forensic and field units.

Tyagi was wanted in several cases at the Badalpur police station, including attempt to murder, criminal intimidation, and wrongful restraint. Police stated he had more than 20 criminal cases registered against him in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad, and Muzaffarnagar between 2012 and 2026.

The deceased was previously arrested in Noida in 2019 under the Gangsters Act following an exchange of fire. He was later released on bail before allegedly returning to criminal activities.
